Now are you having the feeling that everyone or everything around you seem to be testing your patience? Are you looking for a way to deal with irritations?
Probably like me, you are also tolerating those frequent irritations in your life. Be it on the road, at home, in the office or even in school, you just can’t seem to escape from the crutches of irritating people or events.
Sometimes it is not true that we have bad temper. It is just that some people or events in our lives just want to test our patience, isn’t it?
Well, enough of my complaints. In short, life is full of irritations. Rather than counting those irritations, why don’t we learn how to deal with irritations in a more resourceful and positive ways.
Voice It Out!
The simplest yet most effective way I have found to deal with irritations is to voice out your opinions or emotions to the concern parties.
If there is someone in your life who is constantly irritating you, let him or her know how you feel about it. Of course, it will be good to bring it across to that person tactfully so that it won’t affect your relationships with that person.
Now even if it is towards a stranger, like a salesperson, do let him or her know your stand. Just remember to be polite and respectful as you always do. I have found that a simple smile can be effective in eliminating any negative emotions which may arise out of this “confrontationâ€.
So what happen if the person who causes your irritation is someone whom you cannot confront directly?
Well, if so, get yourself a listening ear. Don’t bottle up all those negative emotions inside you. Learn to release them and you will be in a better situation to deal with irritations.
Do Something Else
I know sometimes it is almost impossible for us to always voice out our thoughts to the concern parties.
If so, the next better choice will be to do something else. Walk away from the source of irritation if possible.
If not, then do something else to distract yourself from it. For example, sing to yourself your favorite songs. Or you can play some soothing music to calm yourself down.
Now what if you wish to vent your anger? Well, get some squeeze balls or do some physical work. I find that to be quite effective in helping me to deal with irritations.
The Best Nation Is Your Imagi“Nationâ€
Now to be frank, this may or may not work for you.
This method assumes that you are able to keep a cool mind and is good at imagining happy moments under stressful conditions.
Of course, you can make use of pictures or sounds to help you relive some happy moments. For example, you can place a picture of your loved ones during your holidays and think back to the times when you were spending quality and fun time with them.
Another way is to think absurdly. I personally like this method a lot. Picture in your mind’s eye the person who is constantly irritating you. Now, slowly change the clothes he or she is wearing.
Imagine him coming to work in his swimming suit. Or picture her with no eyebrows or with a moustache on.
The point here is to make you laugh about that irritating person. In this way, you are actually replacing your negative emotions with positive and resourceful ones, at the expenses of other people of course.
However, who cares about them, right? Who asks them to irritate us?
Now, hopefully after providing you with these methods on how you can deal with irritations, you will stop pulling out your hair and stop knocking your head against the wall.
So can you come out with other more effective ways to deal with irritations? Care to share them with me? ![]()
