Have you ever tried working alone in pursue of your own dreams? Trying to do everything yourself, motivating yourself through numerous self help books and personal development audios only to find yourself failing due to the lack of support from family, friends or support groups?
Well, you may have heard that “self motivation is the best motivation”, however it is also true that achieving success is practically undoable and impossible.
Imagine the things you’re lacking when you try to work alone.
* Support
* Motivation
* Inspiration
* Ideas
* Helping hands
* Sound advice
* Synergy… …
In fact, after reading so many biographies or autobiographies, I come to realize that successful people never work alone. They need coaches, motivators and people of different professions to support them.
The fact is you need not need to know everything. You just need to find people with the knowledge you need and work with them. Like Henry Ford, he never bothered himself about how the engines of the car actually work for he had his engineers taking care of it. Also, he never did learn about the laws for his lawyers had it covered for him.
My point is successful people learn the art of leveraging. And when you’re forming your dream team, you’re also trying to find people whom you can learn from and leverage on their knowledge.
This is not a matter of making use of others. It’s just fair trade. I strongly believe you also have some expertises or knowledge which you’re willingly to share in exchange of new ideas or advice.
This is in fact a win-win situation.
So now the problem is where are you going to find your dream support group?
Well, the truth is there are tons of places for you to find your dream support group! You just didn’t realize that.
Forums
Forums are my best hang out place in the internet. While others are using the internet to play some online games or do some mindless surfing, I like to spend my time going through the forums looking for opportunity to share my knowledge and ideas with others.
Also, personally I believe that forums are the one of the best places to get quality help, sound advice and most importantly sincere recommendation of the products that may possibly help you solve your problems.
Also, some days when you’re down, visiting forums can just brighten up your day when you “hear” them discuss about some lame, unrelated topics.
Well, life need not always be so serious, right?
Seminars
Seminars are often my next choice in finding people of similar interests. However, the disadvantage of it is that seminars are often not free.
However, looking at the bright side of things, you can get to meet up with different people face to face, know how s/he looks like and how s/he behaves.
Personally, I feel that it is easier to “click” with people whom I have direct contact with and it just adds to the personal touch which is in great absence in the forums.
In addition to that, it will be easier to ask for further meet-ups or if possible, form a new mastermind or support group to help one another achieve their successes they desire in life.
Workshops
In addition to seminars, workshops may be another events you may want to go in search of your dream support group.
Workshops are very similar to seminars, just that they usually doesn’t last as long as seminars. Thus you may experience some difficulties in getting to know other people.
However, never let that hinder your goal in finding your dream support group. Remember, those people who attend the same workshop as you do have the same interest, if not, share the same goals as you.
Take your time to know the people there. Make it your primary purpose to attend workshops to learn while keeping an eye on potential people whom you may want to recruit into your dream support group.
The Universe always has a way to deliver the correct person to you at the correct timing and correct place. Have faith in the Universe and be open to receiving your gift.
Friendster
Although I have yet to experience any success in building support groups through Friendster, I indeed have friends who have managed to find themselves a group of like minded people through this wonderful technology.
If you have not yet heard of Friendster, you can visit the website below for more information:
Well, some may say that it is an awkward way to find people to join your support group, however, as mentioned earlier, the Universe does has its way of delivering the right people to you at right time.
It is surely not a direct way, nevertheless, it is still one possible way you can get to know people who share the same dreams you do.
Friends
Last but not least, you can get to know new friends through your present friends. In fact, I have got to know some new wonderful people from my friends who actually end up as my best friends too.
Sometimes it just so happen that when you are discussing your desires with your friends when s/he actually knows another person who shares the same ambitions or interests as you.
In conclusion, just keep looking and keep expanding your network of friends. You’ll never know when you’ll need their help and advice or when you can share your expertise with others.
Learn to network for that is what successful people do.
Successful people network. Poor people just work. Remember that well. =D
